Waste Industries The waste disposal firm which is contracted to haul Cocke County garbage, has been aquired by another firm. “There really wasn’t any impact. We started our rebranding in June,” Waste Industries General Manager Steve Cobb said of the merger with GFL Environmental Inc. of Canada. The firms entered into a definitive merger agreement in a transaction that values Waste Industries at a total enterprise value of more than $2.8 billion. Despite the merger, Waste Industries General Manager Steve Cobb, said no detrimental impact has been felt by employees and management at the Morristown location. When combined, GFL and Waste Industries is the largest privately owned environmental services company in North America, with operations in nine states. But the merger will not lead to a consolidation of locations. Waste Industries provides services to nearly two million households, and Cobb said all its locations will continue to operate autonomously. “We don’t have any overlap,” Cobb said. “Our location in Morristown is still the same and Waste Industries will continue doing business as usual.
