Burgess death
Family members say a man found in his vehicle at a convenience store in Cocke County last week, has died. Newport Patrol Officer Jonathan Ball says he responded to the site on West Broadway just before 10 pm on July 10, to find Jonathan Burgess, 38, slumped over in his vehicle and unresponsive. CPR was begun and Narcan was administered, and then First Call EMS took Burgess to the Newport Medical Center. He later was transferred to Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Family members tell the NewsSource that Burgess was on life support prior to his recent death. Newport Detective Scott Lamb says an autopsy was conducted and the investigation into the death is continuing.
