Rural Medical Services receives another grant
First District Congressman Phil Roe, Republican of Johnson City says the Department of Health and Human Services has announced health cluster grants totaling $501,000 and an opioid response grant of $1,000,000 for the First District. Rural Medical Services, Inc, which has clinics in Cocke and Jefferson Counties, will receive $167,000. “For too long communities all over the United States have been completely ravaged by the ongoing opioid epidemic, specifically right here in East Tennessee," said Roe. " This opioid response grant will go towards our local efforts to help implement strategies aimed at minimizing abuse in our region. In addition, HHS announced grants for regional community health centers to help provide quality care to low-income residents in underserved areas in East Tennessee. I applaud HHS for awarding these grants to the First District and I look forward to seeing them used in service of our community.
