Myers crash
A Cocke County man was flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville following a single vehicle crash on Scenic View Drive, Wednesday evening. Deputy Joshua Matthews said Philip Myers, 48, Shale Road, Newport was operating a 2002 Chevrolet at 8:13 pm at an apparent excessive speed when the vehicle went out of control. The auto went off a 35 foot embankment and rolled, near the intersection with Brisk Way. Officer Matthews said Myers was wearing his seatbelt but sustained suspected serious injuries. No charges have been filed.
