Cocke County library funding State Senator Steve Southerland (R-Morristown) and State Representative Jeremey Faison (R-Cosby) announced Friday that Cocke County will receive $9,705 in Technology Grants from the Tennessee State Library and Archives. The lawmakers made the announcement after being notified by Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “Access to technology is something many of us take for granted,” Secretary of State Tre Hargett said. “Our public libraries across the state play a pivotal role in connecting Tennesseans. I’m proud of the role the Tennessee Library and Archives plays in increasing access to technology and education across the entire state.” “This investment in new technologies for our libraries will ensure everyone has access to the computers and information they need for education, career resources, and public service,” said Senator Southerland. “I appreciate the work of Secretary Hargett to administer these grants and commend local officials for their efforts to secure the funds.” The Parrottsville Community Library will receive $6,379 to purchase desktop computers, laptops, children’s workstations, software, networking equipment, monitors and an external hard drive. Also, in order to purchase desktop computers, software, networking equipment, monitors and an external hard drive, the Stokley Memorial Library will receive $1,576; the Cosby Community Library will receive $928; and the Marie Ellison Memorial Library will receive $822.
