Lowery arrest
A Cocke County man named on two sealed presentments returned by a Cocke County Grand Jury in October was taken into custody on Tuesday. David Lynn Lowery, 45, Fine Street, Newport, is charged with the sale and delivery of oxycodone on two occasions in December 2017. The cases are being prosecuted by Agent David Norton of the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force. Newport Detective Derrick Webb said Newport and Cocke County officers went to the Lowery residence, saw the suspect inside his home, but he refused to open the door. Officers forced their way inside to find Lowery hiding in a closet. The subject also was wanted on a community corrections violation as well as contempt of court from Cocke County Juvenile Court. Bond for Lowery is set at $20,000.
