Parrottsville home destroyed by fire
A total of five fire departments responded early Monday morning to a home fire on Sinking Creek Road in Cocke County. Senior Captain Robert Cashen of the Cocke County Fire Department said his department responded at 2:24 am to the blaze in the Chris Presnell home. The owner was working in Pennsylvania when the blaze was discovered, and there were no occupants in the residence. A relative who lives nearby told Firefighter Cashen that there was a heater on the porch of the home to warm a dog, and that may have been the source of the fire, however that has not been confirmed. Firefighters from volunteer departments in Parrottsville, Long Creek, Del Rio, and Centerview were able to save a two-bay detached garage near the home, during the two-hour firefighting effort. The 1,600 square foot home was destroyed with the loss placed at $110,000.
