Jefferson County fatal crash
A Jefferson City man died Tuesday morning when his vehicle went out of control on Interstate 40 in Jefferson County and struck an eighteen-wheeler. Trooper Ronnie Hall identified the victim in the 5:08 am crash as Justin Ward, 39, who was operating a 2012 Nissan. The officer said Ward was westbound near the 414 mile marker when his car spun out of control and traveled into the path of the tractor-trailer. The westbound 2014 Peterbilt, operated by Russell William, 50 of Oliver Springs, struck the Nissan on the passenger side door. Following impact, both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest off the right side of the interstate, in a ditch. It reportedly was snowing at the time of the crash.
