Mossburg death penalty
Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty for a man accused of murders in both Greeneville and Florida. Stanley Eric "WooWoo" Mossburg, 35, is accused of killing three people, including Greeneville resident Christopher Short on October 2. He then traveled to Florida where he allegedly broke into a home in Polk County and killed two people. Officials there said a man came home from work to find Mossburg in his house and his two roommates, a man and woman, dead inside the residence. Mossburg allegedly held the man captive, until the victim was able to escape the following morning, and Mossburg then was taken into custody. Officers had maintained a perimeter overnight around the home in Winter Haven where Mossburg had barricaded himself inside, until a SWAT team tore out walls and a portion of the roof at which time Mossburg surrendered. He is named on Greene County warrants charging him with first-degree felony murder, especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated kidnapping, in the death of Short. Mossburg also faces the double murder charges in Florida.
