Cocke County Budget Committee
Members of the newly re-organized Cocke County Budget Committee met Tuesday. Formerly known as the Finance Committee, with seven members of the County Legislative Body representing each district, the new committee has just five members. The new committee is made up of Mayor Crystal Ottinger, CLB Chair Clay Blazer, Commissioner Norman Smith, and members representing the private sector, Angela Huskey-Grooms, and Dr. Rich Lloyd. Mayor Ottinger said the county legislative body adopted the 1957 finance and budgeting regulations several years ago but never implemented the reduced number of members on the committee. Last evening the committee's sole action was to approve routine budget transfers.
