Claiborne County shooting
The Claiborne County Sheriff's offive on Thanksgiving Day issued a statement saying deputies on Wednesday responded to a crash on Highway 63 at about 1:24 pm. The deputies learned that two Pineville, Kentucky men were riding in a car when the passenger shot the driver as he drove. Officials say the driver, 40-year-old Charles Russell, was shot and killed by his 24-year-old passenger Jacob McGeorge. After Russell was shot, his car left the roadway and struck as tree. McGeorge was arrested at the scene and is currently being held in the Claiborne County Jail in Tazewell, on criminal homicide charges.
