Thomas wants to withdraw his guilty plea A Cocke County man who pled guilty to the sale of large amounts of heroin and methamphetamine while on federal supervised release, now wants to withdraw his federal plea agreement. Gregory "Frog" Thomas, 41, Big Creek Road, Hartford, had earlier agreed to a 188 month federal prison term. But he recently filed a handwritten motion with U.S. District Judge Ronnie Greer saying he wants to withdraw his plea. Thomas was released from federal custody in 2017 after having served a ten year sentence for the sale of crack cocaine. But federal investigators say Thomas then began selling large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine to Cocke Countians soon after his release and was busted in a heroin-meth conspiracy in Knox County. Thomas argues he didn't understand the plea agreement he signed. “(T)he only part of the plea agreement that my lawyer and I went over is the sentencing part of the agreement and (that) if I didn’t except (sic) this plea then I would be subject to life in prison,” the defendant says. Thomas received a 10 year federal prison term in 2011 for selling crack cocaine. Then when he was released from a halfway house, he began buying large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine, which he sold in Cocke County.
