Jefferson County Grand Jury
A Jefferson County Grand Jury meeting this week returned several indictments. Benny Mack Higdon, 43, Tom Breeden Road, Jefferson City, faces a charge of aggravated domestic assault. On September 12, 2019, the defendant allegedly caused serious bodily injuries to his son, Austin Higdon. The father was allegedly intoxicated when he pushed the boy down and then punched him numerous times on the face. The victim was sent to the UT Medical Center for treatment of several facial fractures. Ricky Allen Johnson, 49, Oak Grove Road, Dandridge is charged in the aggravated assault of Joseph Catalano on June 1, 2019. The two men were in the American Legion in Jefferson City when Johnson allegedly struck Catalano on the chest, causing him to fall from his bar stool, and strike his head on the wall. The injured man was treated at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and then was flown to the UT Medical Center for treatment of his serious injuries. Police say Johnson fled the scene and was later arrested. Mickey Todd Neeley, 38, Knoxville is charged with the theft of a boat, boat motors, and other fishing supplies along with an all-terrain vehicle, owned by various individuals and Casual Marine of Jefferson City. The thefts were reported last year. Neely is charged with two counts theft over $10,000, two counts theft over $2,500, three counts theft over $1,000, theft, vandalism over $2,500 and vandalism. Susan Lynn Stiles, 48, N. Sizer Avenue, Jefferson City, faces a charge of the financial exploitation of an elderly individual. From August through September of last year, Stiles allegedly feloniously exploited Eugene Spencer, a 74 year-old resident of Jefferson City. The defendant allegedly took more than $2,500 from Spencer over a seven week period including the payment of more than $1,000 in fines and court costs that Stiles owed in Blount County.
