Cocke County brush fire
Late Saturday evening a total of nine fire agencies were continuing to battle a brush fire in Cocke County near the North Carolina state line. At least 20 acres of brushland and mountainside had burned. Cocke County Fire Chief Keith Large said the blaze is on very steep and rough terrain, near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The surrounding roads are South Highway 32, Barnes Hollow Road and Trail Hollow Road. Although there are structures in the line of the flames, Chief Large said several engines are positioned close to the homes to provide protection. The fire agencies involved include units from North Carolina and the Tennessee Division of Forestry.
