General Committee talks recreation
The Cocke County General Committee began the process Thursday, of forming a Cocke County Recreation Board. The Board will be responsible for overseeing the county recreation program which currently is operated by the Office of Mayor. Chair of the committee, Norman Smith said the new Board will be made up of five members, who will not receive pay. Each candidate for the board was asked to address the committee detailing his or her vision for the future of recreation in the county. Chair of the Cocke County Legislative Body, Clay Blazer will appoint the board members. He asked that after all the candidates address the committee, that the committee members submit their top three choices for the board, and he will use those recommendations in making the appointments.
