Thacker arrest
A Bybee man was jailed Friday evening after he collided with another vehicle on Highway 160 in Cocke County and then fled the scene. Cocke County Deputy Daniel Smith said Keith Dewayne Thacker, 45, Miller Road, was traveling southbound in a 2004 GMC SUV when the Thacker vehicle went into the northbound lane and continued onto the shoulder. When Thacker swerved back onto the roadway, he collided with a northbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup operated by Melvin Tucker, 49, Highway 321, Newport. Thacker was found at his home after the owner of the auto he was driving came back to the scene of the crash, telling Officer Smith that the suspect was at home. Thacker admitted he had been drinking, in addition deputies found two containers of Suboxone and Clonazepam. One of the Clonazepam prescription bottles was prescribed to another individuals. It had been filled earlier in the day with 24 pills and it contained just one. Thacker was jailed on charges of DUI, possession of Suboxone and Clonazepam, driving on a suspended license, failure to exercise due care, failure to maintain lane, no insurance, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, evading arrest and a probation violation. Tucker and his passenger, Nathan Breeden, 26, Highway 321, Newport, both were taken to Morristown Hamblen Hospital by First Call EMS.
