Hekko death
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has announced the sudden death of it's K9 "Hekko". In a release, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey said, "It is with great sadness, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announces the sudden death of active duty K9 “Hekko”, due to a medical condition. K-9 “Hekko” and his partner, Sgt. Tim Herzog have been assigned to the Patrol Division since 2018. They also worked for Sevier County Sheriff’s Office as a K-9 team from 2015-18. They have been instrumental in removing drugs from the streets of Jefferson County. Their last K-9 deployment was Saturday night, January 18, when they responded to assist the New Market Police Department tracking an armed robbery suspect. We would ask that you would keep Sgt. Herzog and the Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers as we have lost a K-9 brother."
