Lakins arrest Jefferson County authorities on Tuesday arrested a Sevier County man for impersonating an officer and false imprisonment. At 8:41 am, Jefferson County E-911 received a call of a suspicious vehicle that had a flashing blue light on the dash and the driver had stopped an auto on Old Dandridge Pk near Reagan Rd. The vehicle was described as a red Ford Mustang with silver racing stripes. Two patrol deputies arrived in the area within minutes, but were unable to locate the vehicle. Later in the morning, a second incident was reported near the Knox County line on Hwy 11E. The tag information provided came back to a residence in Sevierville. Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey said Sevierville police officers responded to that address and spoke with the suspect’s mother. Just before noon, Charles Edward Lakins, 41, W Payne Drive, Gatlinburg, walked into the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office saying that the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was looking for him. Jefferson County detectives responded and arrested Lakins . The suspects vehicle was located at a residence on Peanut Circle in New Tazewell, and further charges are pending in Union County by their Sheriff’s Office as the result of a another traffic stop Tuesday morning.
