Cocke County Circuit Court
In Cocke County Circuit Court recently, Judge Carter Moore accepted a guilty plea from Jacob Hoilman, 40, Newport, who was charged in a total of 11 cases. The defendant pleaded guilty to the sale of methamphetamine in a drug free zone, two counts sale of methamphetamine over .5 grams, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and deliver, and four counts of theft. Judge Moore approved the negotiated plea of 10 years, a $5,000 fine plus restitution to the law agencies who made the undercover drug buys. The court also reduced the bond for Spencer Eugene Grooms, 29, Keemer Road, Cosby, who is charged in 13 cases, to $350,000. Also the bond for Cassandra Michelle Spencer, 29, Ross Drive, Dandridge who is charged with the aggravated rape of a child three years old or less, two counts rape of a child and three counts aggravated sexual battery, was reduced. Originally set at $750,000, Judge Moore reduced the bond for Spencer to $100,000.
