Safer at Home
Tennessee's confirmed coronavirus cases jumped by about 300 on Monday, to 1,834, as Governor Bill Lee ordered non-essential businesses to shut their doors. The state has registered 13 deaths Cocke County continues to have one confirmed case, Jefferson 2, Greene jumped to 12 cases, Hamblen 2, and Sevier 7 cases. Governor Lee issued a two-week statewide order telling Tennesseans to stay home in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The "safer at home" order, puts in place restrictions previously enacted earlier by mayors in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and governors in at least 30 other states. In recent days, some smaller cities in Tennessee have also put such orders in place. The order takes effect at midnight tonight and will continue through April 14, during which time only essential businesses are to continue operating and residents are to stay home "as much as possible," the governor said.
