Mills injured in Sunday crash
The Newport Police Department on Wednesday released a report on a serious Sunday collision involving two motorcycles. Patrol Officer Jordan Douglas said the collision occurred on West Broadway at the McCabe Avenue intersection at about 1 pm. Karen Mills, 64, Newport and David Mills, 69 of Newport, were riding separate motorcycles westbound at the time of the collision. Mr. Mills was in the left lane made when he made a right turn toward McCabe Avenue. Ms. Mills who was in the right-hand lane, struck the rear fender of Mr. Mills turning cycle. David Mills who was ejected from his cycle, sustained road burns, complained of shoulder pain and also had difficulty breathing. He was transported to the Newport Medical Center by First Call EMS. Ms. Mills was not injured. Officer Douglas said both cyclists were wearing helmets.
