COVID 19 Update
The confirmed COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is now 18,961 as of May 21, 2020, including 313 deaths, 1,539 hospitalizations and 12,191 recovered. The case count has increased by 429 from Wednesday. The local numbers look like this; Cocke County 20 cases and 3 are still ill; Jefferson County 27 cases and 3 are still ill; Greene 46 cases and 2 are ill; Hamblen 24 cases 4 are still ill and Sevier 69 cases 3 are still ill. Thursday afternoon Governor Bill Lee held a COVID 19 briefing. He was asked if he is continuing to encourage out of state visitors to come to the Smokies and it's large venues this weekend, despite the pandemic risks. Tourist Development Commissioner Mark Ezell responded to the question while displaying new masks for visitors He reported that Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville have purchased masks to give away to visitors this weekend to reduce the risk of the virus from being brought into the area.
