Stuart pursuit A Parrottsville man faces charges following a pursuit which began Monday evening in Parrottsville and stretched to Del Rio. Newport Sgt. Derek Webb said he spotted Joseph Bradley Stuart, 33, South Highway 340, Parrottsville driving erratically on Highway 321, and the license plate on the vehicle was registered to another auto. Stuart was stopped on North Highway 321, however a few seconds after stopping, Stuart sped away at a high rate of speed, onto South Highway 340, Manning Chapel Road, East Highway 25/70, Highway 107, Blue Mill Road and then Spicewood Flats Road at speeds in excess of 85 miles per hour. The suspect during the chase, passed vehicles on double yellow lines, "carelessly putting himself, law enforcement and other innocent motorists at risk of injury," the officer said. Stuart reportedly explained that he fled because his driver's license is revoked, and he was in possession of a firearm. At the feet of the defendant was a loaded .357 handgun. Officer Webb said Stuart has at least three previous felony convictions. Now he is charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, fleeing to evade police, speeding, driving on a revoked license, failure to exercise due care, possession of methamphetamine and improper tags.
