Cocke County murder/suicide
Cocke County authorities have ordered autopsies in a double shooting Tuesday afternoon. Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said his officers responded to a home on Bacon Valley Road in the Parrottsville community just after 2 pm on reports of a domestic altercation. As officers were responding to the home of Amanda Williams, 44 and Rodney Williams, 46, they received a report that a female was shooting at a male. At the scene the bodies of the couple were found in a field outside of the residence. "We are working this as a murder/suicide case," the sheriff said. "We are trying to determine the cause of the shooting.I have been advised that the female in this incident was potentially having some emotional and mental illness problems prior to the shooting, and so that is something that is a part of our investigation." The autopsy of Mr. Williams will determine if he was shot multiple times. The sheriff said there were no children in the area at the time of the shootings. Investigators recovered a semi-automatic handgun at the scene.
