Quality Woodworking damaged by fire
A Cocke County woodworking business was heavily damaged Wednesday morning by fire. Fire units responded to Quality Woodworking in the 1500 block of Highway 73 at 7:18 am, after an employee spotted fire in the attic area. Cocke County Firefighter Michael Allen said owner Michael Holycross reported that there was flammable materials stored throughout the business and so all of the fire departments in Cocke County, as well as the Pittman Center Volunteer unit responded to the scene. The Cocke County Sheriffs Department and Tennessee Department of Transportation blocked off the roadway between the 440 Truckstop and Sweetwater Road, for several hours to facilitate the fire fighting effort. The cause of the fire is undetermined and an investigation is underway to pinpoint the origin. The fire was confined to one area of the business, however, the entire building and the woodworking equipment sustained smoke and water damage. Damage is estimated at more than $250,000.
