Murder/Suicide lawsuit
The mother of a Parrottsville man killed by his wife in August, has filed a lawsuit in Cocke County Circuit Court demanding damages totaling $2 million. On August 4, Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said his officers responded to a home on Bacon Valley Road on reports of a domestic altercation. As officers were responding to the home of Amanda Williams, 44 and Rodney Williams, 46, they received a report that a female was shooting at a male. At the scene the bodies of the couple were found in a field outside of the residence. The sheriff termed the incident as a murder/suicide. The lawsuit filed by Attorney Richard Talley on behalf of Dona Russell, mother and administrator of the Rodney Williams estate, alleges Amanda Williams chased her husband before shooting him numerous times, and then killing herself. The lawsuit says Mrs. Williams was responsible for the wrongful death of her husband, and it demands $1 million in compensatory damages for funeral expenses etc, and a like amount in punitive damages for the "grossly negligent conduct" of Mrs. Williams.
