McCullough charged in attack on Land Rover
Newport police say they jailed a Newport man, after he allegedly battered a Land Rover as it traveled on Learning Way. Cole Calone told Newport Patrol Officer Lindsey Laughter that as he drove a man attacked his vehicle with a baseball bat. When police responded to the area they found Christopher McCullough, 41, Raines Road, Newport, walking along the roadway swinging a wooden plank and saying he believed people were after him. McCullough admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. Calone estimated the damage to his 2013 Land Rover Range Rover at $10,000. Now McCullough is charged with aggravated assault, vandalism over $10,000, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
