COVID Update
The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is 340,476 as of Sunday, November 22 including 4,266 deaths, 2,065 current hospitalizations and 294,231 inactive/recovered. Percent positive for Sunday was 12.54%. Sunday's new confirmed cases totaled 4,589 statewide. Looking at local cases.. Cocke has had 1539total confirmed cases,174 remain active and the county has registered 28 deaths as a result of COVID. Two additional deaths were reported on Sunday. Jefferson has had 31 deaths, one new death was reported on Sunday. Greene County 68 deaths one new on Sunday, Hamblen County has had 57 deaths and Sevier County has had 30 deaths, 1 new death was reported on Sunday. Statewide, Tennessee recorded another 55 deaths related to COVID on Sunday, adding to the state’s deadliest week in the history of the pandemic. Statewide, there were 373 deaths last week — 74 more than the previous weekly record set just a week earlier. Meanwhile, the state’s number of current infections increased by 2,122 to nearly 42,000 cases for the second-highest total since the peak of 43,101 on Nov. 16. Tennessee considers COVID-19 cases inactive after 14 days, so active cases represent new cases over the same period minus the deaths. Northeast Tennessee’s positive test rate on Sunday was more than 25%, compared to a statewide rate of 12.5%. The region’s rate was in double digits for the 14th consecutive day on Sunday.
