Be aware of porch thieves If you order items on line for the holidays, be aware of porch thieves. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is warning residents that Porch Pirates- are especially active during the holidays, and it only takes a few seconds to become a victim. Studies indicate that 30% of Americans have been the victim of package thieves. The sheriff's department Criminal Investigation Division recommends that you...................... • Instead of having that Packages delivered to your front door, consider having it shipped to your work. • If that’s not an option, you can also have your package delivered to a family member or neighbor who is usually home during the daytime. And consider getting a video doorbell. They may not always stop a Porch Pirate, but they can help police identify them and will give added security year around.
