Six deaths are attributed to Tennessee's inclement weather
The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting that six people have died in Tennessee as a result of the winter storms that moved through the West and Middle regions of the state this week. According to the department, the deaths were reported in Maury, Williamson, Dickson, Overton and Shelby Counties. Due to the continued hazardous weather and travel conditions in Middle and West Tennessee, including freezing rain, ice and snowfall, Gov. Bill Lee has closed state offices for today in Middle and West Tennessee counties. He also signed an order meant to ensure that fuel can be transported quickly throughout the state so that homes and businesses can stay warm during the storm. It exempts drivers of propane gas, petroleum fuels and other heating fuels from federal rules limiting how long they can work. It also allows people who transport utility supplies and utility crews to work longer during the severe winter weather.
