Dearing faces charges following pursuit
A Morristown man faces charges following a Saturday afternoon pursuit in Cocke County that ended when he collided with another vehicle in Hamblen County. Third District Constable Nathan White said he observed a black car driving erratically on Hale Road at 5:15 pm Saturday. When the officer turned around, he says Danny Dearing, 44, West 6th North Street, fled at a high rate of speed, driving in a reckless manner. The auto traveled onto Point Pleasant Road, onto Emanuel Road, then Corral Road and eventually back onto Point Pleasant Road. On Spencer Hale Road in Hamblen County, Dearing passed another vehicle in a curve, in a no-passing zone in an attempt to evade Officer White. The chase continued for several miles to the end of Jacobs Road where Dearing failed to stop for the stop sign. As he entered the Highway 25E intersection, Dearing's 2005 Suzuki was struck by a northbound 2006 Jeep operated by Robert Ivens, 28, of White Pine. The passenger in the Ivens auto was identified as Justin Garrett,35,White Pine. Following the crash, Dearing and his passenger, Elizabeth Ogle,39, Morristown fled on foot toward Old Highway 25E. Constable White arrested Ogle a short distance away and she identified Dearing as the driver. Dearing was taken into custody a short distance away by the Hamblen County Sheriff's Department. Both Dearing and Ogle were wanted on probation violation charges in Hamblen County. Constable White has issued warrants for Dearing charging him with evading arrest, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, failure to maintain his lane and reckless endangerment. Trooper Erik Raines of the Tennessee Highway patrol, who investigated the crash, indicated that no injuries resulted. He charged Dearing with driving on a revoked license and simple possession of marijuana.
