Southerland report
State Senator Steve Southerland says the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee approved legislation this week to help ensure COVID-19 vaccines remain voluntary and that medical information reflecting the status of a person’s vaccination cannot be required by any l0cal or state entities. The legislation also removes authority from county boards of health to enforce safety measures regarding COVID-19, estasblishing their role as advisory to the county mayor. Legislation clarifying that text messages sent and received on smart phones or devices are subject to the state’s Anti-Phishing Act was approved by the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee this week. Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III has joined Kentucky in filing a lawsuit challenging a mandate from the Biden Administration in the American Rescue Plan Act regarding tax policy.
