Friday morning drug bust in Cocke County
Friday morning, members of the Newport/Cocke County SWAT team, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), executed a search warrant at 1253 Fox Chase Road in Newport, the residence of Aspen Denton, 25. Cocke County Administrative Major and DEA Agent Chuck Evans said SWAT team members penetrated a front window of the home and deployed tear gas inside the residence. Within a minute, Aspen Denton, Dior Davon Nathan (aka “D”), 28, and Audrey Jinks, 45, exited the home and were taken into custody. Although Ms. Denton said there was noone else in the home, SWAT team members utilized gas masks to clear the residence and found no one inside. Members of the Cocke County Fire Department were called to the scene and utilized fans to clear the remaining tear gas from the home. During a subsequent search, a trap door was found in the living room floor under a chair. K-9 Deputy Bryce Pickens entered the trap door that led under the house and located Eric Campbell, 47, hiding under a blanket, and he was taken into custody. During the search of the residence, officers located baggies, numerous scales, a loaded Glock magazine, Suboxone, a white powder substance, cash, receipts, ledgers, three laptop computers, two iPhones, and a bag of IV equipment in the master bedroom. Major Evans said in other areas, officers located an iPhone bullets, ledgers, digital scales and cash. Inside a purse that belonged to Denton, officers found cash, nearly two ounces of heroin and numerous gold rings and bracelets. Officers also located $2,386 in cash on Nathan. Denton and Nathan are charged with Possession of Heroin for Resale. Jinks was released and Campbell was taken into custody on numerous Circuit Court Capias’.
