Mill Creek Wildfire doubles in size The Mill Creek Wildfire burning in the Hartford area has now doubled in size. That fire has now consumed over 600 acres, but is now 50% contained. Thick smoke continues to blanket the Hartford and Cosby areas due to the wildfire. For safety reasons Stone Mountain Trail (#9) is closed from Mill Creek to Halls Top today. The efforts firefighters made with yesterday’s burnout should minimize fire activity today according to the TN. Department of Agriculture. However dry conditions will persist through Thursday afternoon. The Forestry Service is urging motorists to use caution on I-40 near the Welcome Center in Hartford since firefighters are in the area.
