Storms knock out power
The weather that moved through the area Sunday evening resulted in little damage in Cocke and Jefferson Counties. In Jefferson County, central dispatch reported trees and live electric lines were down over Highway 11E, but few electrical outages were reported. Newport Utilities Engineer Jimmy Robertson said the 7:30 storms knocked out power to a total of 220 customers, from Point Pleasant to Chestnut Hill. power had been pretty much restored when a second band of storms moved through the area at midnight. A total of 130 customers lost power but most of the power was restored by 6 a.m. today.
