Jobless numbers
Following a slight rise in the statewide unemployment rate in March, jobless statistics experienced minor increases in most of Tennessee's 95 counties, according to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Williamson County's jobless rate of 3.3% is the lowest in the state. Unemployment in Lake County stands at 8.9%, which is the state's highest rate for the month. Looking at local jobless numbers; Cocke....6.8 percent; Jefferson....5 percent; Greene....5.6 percent; Hamblen....4.9 percent and Sevier....5.1 percent.
