Kelly pleads to murder
A 54 year-old White Pine man has pleaded guilty to the murder of Johnny Arrowood, 47 in his home on Beth Carr Road, in White Pine, in May, 2012. Charles Randall Kelley, 52, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death as well as theft over $1,000 in connection with the theft of Arrowood's 1980 Ford pickup before Judge Duane Slone in Jefferson County Circuit Court. The plea agreement calls for a sentence of 15 to 25 years, to be served at 100 percent, when Kelley is sentenced at a later date. At the time of the death, Jefferson County Sheriff G.W. "Bud" McCoig said a neighbor went to the residence of Arrowood, finding the victim in his home, covered with a blanket, which had blood on it, in addition the gold colored truck was missing. In September, 2012, police in New Jersey who stopped a trucker suspected of trying to evade paying a toll, found Kelley in the truck. The trucker said he had picked up Kelley but didn't know he was wanted. According to Sheriff McCoig, Kelly was listed as a suspect in the National Crime Information Center database, and had been indicted on First Degree Murder charges by a Jefferson County Grand Jury in August, 2012. Stephanie Grubb, 44, Kingswood Road, Talbott, pleaded guilty to theft over $1,000, identity theft and forgery in connection with the theft of monies while she worked at Fast Cash Plus in Jefferson City. She was originally charged with theft over $60,000, 36 counts of identity theft and 18 counts of forgery. Grubb was given a three year sentence with all over the time already served, to be on probation. The defendant was granted judicial diversion and was ordered to pay restitution totaling $7,500.
