Rhodes dies of crash injuries
A teen injured in an August 8 crash outside of White Pine has died as a result of his injuries. Brandon Rhodes, 18 of White Pine was operating a 2003 Mitsubishi southbound on Fred Sharp Road at 3:12 pm, when the vehicle went out of control. Trooper Barry Jarnigan said Rhodes was southbound on the damp roadway and as the car came out of a "shaded curve", it left the right side of the roadway. The auto struck a ditch line, went through a wire fence and a wooden fence, and then rolled before coming to rest against a tree. According to the highway patrol, Rhodes died Wednesday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville as a result of his injuries. Also injured in the crash near the intersection with Roy Messer Highway were passengers, Michael Taylor, 21, Dandridge and Melissa Taylor, 43, Talbott. Trooper Jarnigan's report says all three occupants of the auto were wearing their seat belts, and there was no evidence of drinking or drug usage on the part of the trio.
