Detwiler arrest
A man who allegedly walked into the Cosby Church of God last Sunday armed with a handgun, was taken into custody on Thursday. Travis Detwiler, 54, Deerfoor Road, Cosby, allegedly confronted Mark McCarter and accused him of owning the dog that a day earlier had attacked Detwiler's mother, Anna Holton,also of Deerfoot Road, Cosby. She told officers that a dog which had been hanging around her home, attacked her as she walked to her car. Holton was bitten on both legs requiring treatment at the Newport Medical Center, however McCarter told Detwiler the dog was not his. The ownership of the dog has not been determined. Detwiler is charged with the unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon as well as going armed with the intent to go armed.
