Myers arrest
A Mosheim man was jailed Thursday morning after reports that he was traveling on North Highway 321 in an erratic manner, and had nearly struck another vehicle head-on. Cocke County Deputy Danny Hartsell said William Curtis Myers, 34, CW Kite Lane, ran the red light at Blazer Street, traveled into the northbound lane on North Street, and eventually ran off the roadway near the courthouse, after being pursued by officers for .3 mile. The subject appeared intoxicated at the time of the 9 am arrest, and failed the field sobriety tests. He did consent to a blood test to determine his intoxication level. A subsequent investigation revealed that the 1996 Toyota that Myers was driving had been reported stolen from Justin Collins of Dandridge. Myers told investigators he had purchased the car from a woman for $500. As a result Dandridge detectives were called to the scene and a subsequent search of the auto revealed Clonazepam pills, and a syringe containing a liquid. Officer Hartsell said Myers had no driver's license and had 10 previous arrests for driving on a suspended license. Now he faced another such arrest as well as possession of Clonazepam, possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing to evade arrest by motor vehicle.
