Paint the town Pink
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to mark the occasion, Tennova Healthcare will “paint” Newport pink. The Newport Medical Center is teaming up with local city and county offices, businesses and the community to emphasize the importance of annual mammograms in the fight against breast cancer. The community is encouraged to support the initiative by displaying “Paint the Town Pink” signs in windows and by wearing pink. On Wednesday, October 14, the Newport community is invited to attend a special ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the Cocke County courthouse lawn. The event will feature official proclamations, a balloon liftoff, music and complimentary refreshments. The event is free and registration is not required.
