Carter burglary
A Newport man says his residence was burglarized recently while he was hospitalized. Merrill Carter told Patrolman Travis Gorrell he was hospitalized earlier this month and upon arrival home, he found the gun safe in his residence on Clifton Heights Road, was open. Officer Gorrell says there was no evidence of forced entry and there are suspects in the theft. A total of 30 long guns and handguns, valued at $25,040, are missing.
