Bauer fire in Bybee
New information has been released in connection with a Sunday fire which damaged a home in the Bybee community of Cocke County. Deputy Logan Starritt said he responded to the home on Palmer Hollow Road, owned by Saphronia Bauer at 12:15 p.m. He found Clark Bauer and Tim Rathe trying to extinguish the fire. The men told Officer Starritt that a male passenger on a vehicle had driven by the home earlier in the day, screaming "gonna get you." Later Bauer and Rathe were away from the home, but upon returning found the rear portion of the home was on fire. The men were able to extinguish the flames, and the Cocke County and Centerview Volunteer Fire Departments also responded. Detective Bryan Murr was told that the suspect has been threatening Bauer and Clark since recently being released from jail. The damage to the $30,000 home has not been determined, and no arrest has been made.
