Shell arrested on meth charges
A Johnson Street , Newport man faces methamphetamine charges following an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. Cocke County Deputy Sgt. Michael Whitmer said he responded to the residence of Jeremy Lee Shell, 24, at the request of a DCS caseworker who reported the occupants of the home were uncooperative. During a subsequent pat-down, the officer says Shell handed him a packet containing methamphetamine. As a result the subject is charged with simple possession of meth.
