Jefferson County Grand Jury
A North Carolina man faces a number of charges stemming from a double fatality on Interstate 40 in Jefferson County last year. A Jefferson County Grand Jury this week indicted James Paul Redmon, 22, Swannanoa, NC, on two counts vehicular homicide, two counts reckless homicide and two counts criminally negligent homicide. The charges stem from an August 9, 2015 crash near the 410 milemarker which was investigated by Trooper Barry Jarnigan. Ashley Roberts, 21, Flat Rock, N.C., and Alexander Thomas White, 23, Swannanoa, N.C., died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the 12:16 a.m. crash. Both victims were occupants of a Toyota 4Runner operated by Redmon which ran into the rear of a pickup truck. Neither victim was wearing a seat belt, however Trooper Jarnigan said he believes seat belts would have made a difference. Drug and alcohol tests were ordered on Redmon, who along with two other passengers in his vehicle, were injured in the crash. Two Morristown men charged in the hammer murder of a New Market man on February 25, have been indicted on charges of First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery. Greg Manor, 27, Elmwod Drive, and Brandon Phillips, 31, Brockland Drive, allegedly beat Donald Dunham, 69, who's body was found by his wife, in the garage of his home on West Old Andrew Johnson Highway. At the time of the incident, Jefferson County Sheriff GW "Bud" McCoig said the defendants knew Dunham "through drug trafficking", and the killing took place during an attempt to rob the victim of pills. A former Carson Newman student and her boyfriend face several charges stemming from last year's discovery that the male was living in the student's room. Authorities said Keisha Nicole Galido San-Pedro, 24,of Nevada allowed Justin Lapale Shepard, 25, a registered sex offender, to live in the female-only housing in violation of school rules. When Shepard registered with Jefferson County authorities as a sex offender, he was told he could not live at the address he gave because it was within 1,000 feet of a public park and a child care facility. He is charged with two counts violation of the sex offender registry, false report to officers and criminal impersonation. San-Pedro is charged with two counts sex offender registry violation, false reports and accessory after the fact. Megan Johnson Phillips, 27, E. Church Street, Greeneville, is charged with the aggravated robbery of the Auto Zone store in Jefferson City on April 7. The defendant produced a BB pistol which authorities say looked very similar to an actual firearm, and she fled with about $550 in cash. About 20 minutes later, Morristown police stopped Johnson-Phillips, took her into custody and confiscated the pistol and $548.50. David Allen Dingle, 32, Columbia, South Carolina is charged with attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and possession of a firearm by a dangerous felon. On January 4, Dingle went to a residence on Branner Avenue in Jefferson City where he allegedly shot Gyrone Garrick Hilliard. The victim sustained serious injuries during the robbery and had to be hospitalized. Theresa Ann Hackett, 51, Ashley Meadows Road, Strawberry Plains, is charged with child abuse and neglect of her seven and ten year-old children. Hackett allegedly used a wooden spoon to discipline her children, striking the youngest on the head and face, and the eldest on the buttocks. Both children were treated at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
