Newport Harvest Street Festival
On Saturday and Sunday, the streets of Downtown Newport will be filled with people, food, crafts and entertainment as an East Tennessee tradition continues; the Newport Harvest Street Festival. Festival goers will enjoy the enticing aroma of festival foods and an interesting line-up of entertainment on two stages. Festival goers should bring a lawn chair, and on Sunday, traditional gospel is on tap. Newport AMVETS Post 75 will coordinate the opening ceremonies at the start of the festival, at 9:30am Saturday on the courthouse lawn. Those attending the festival will be able to purchase products of local and regional crafters. There also will be a Kiddie Land, located off the food court, with a bounce house and other rides, including horse rides. There will be beauty pageants for up to 21 years-old, on Saturday. There also will be ole-timey activities around the Courthouse through the weekend. The event is sponsored by the Cocke County Partnership Chamber of Commerce who's aim is to enhance the community's economic climate and quality of life for its citizens.
