Newport CVS incident
Newport authorities are looking for a suspect in connection with a Wednesday evening incident at the CVS pharmacy on the Cosby Road. Pharmacy employee Debbie Keller told Newport Patrol Officer Joshyua Shults that a regular customer entered the drive-through at 9:35 p.m.. The white male became upset when he was told he would have to provide his identification before his prescription could be filled. The clerk says she was told by the man "I don't have an ID, but I have a damn gun," at which point he displayed a handgun. Officer Shults says video surveillance shows the clerk pulling down the bullet proof window in front of her. He said police have developed additional information regarding the identity of the would-be customer who fled after the incident.
