Cocke Grand Jury indictments
A Cocke County Grand Jury has indicted additional defendants during a two-day session this week. Those indicted are to be arraigned on November 14, by Judge Ben Hooper in Cocke County Circuit Court. The grand jury issued a superseding indictment naming Misty Lane, 42, Glendale Road, Bybee, on charges of Second Degree Murder and Reckless Homicide, in the October 29, 2013 shooting death of her husband, Richard Dale Lane, 42, at a residence in the Carson Springs community.. Tanner Flynn, 20, Rocky Flats Road, Cosby, is charged with offenses stemming from a July 11 incident in which he allegedly tried to kill Alexis Grace Moore, 18, as she attempted to drive with him as a passenger. Investigators say Flynn grabbed the steering wheel preventing Moore from driving, and so she pulled into the 411 Shell station parking lot and exited her auto. As Moore ran to the convenience store, Flynn jumped into the driver's seat and drove toward her. Just as Moore reached the store, with Flynn following her, he smashed into the building entrance. Ms. Moore was injured in the incident and required medical treatment. Flynn now is charged with attempted second degree murder, aggravated domestic assault, vandalism over $10,000 to the building, vandalism over $1,000 to the vehicle, evading arrest by motor vehicle, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, and a number of thefts. Mason Sneed, 20, Ridge Road, Hartford, is charged with a conspiracy to commit jail escape and possession of a cell phone in the jail. In April Sneed and another inmate, David Sisk, allegedly used the cell phone to contact two females in an effort to recruit them in an attempt to escape the jail. Jeffrey M. Stewart, 45, Deland, Florida, but a native of Neddy's Mountain, Del Rio, is charged with offenses stemming from a high speed chase involving Newport police on March 3. The lengthy pursuit by Newport Sgt. Derek Wright, took place while Stewart was allegedly using and in possession of methamphetamine. The subject is charged with DUI, possession of methamphetamine, evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and a number of traffic violations. Henry Greg Stroud, 33, is charged with exposing four Newport police officers to Hepatitis C on July 29 during an arrest. The subject reportedly was suicidal and had walked into traffic. He is charged with four counts each aggravated assault and criminal exposure to Hepatitis C, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Joseph Jacobs, 36, Fifth Street, Newport, is charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allison Marie Sewell,30, Newport, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and heroin with the intent to sell and deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while in possession of methamphetamine. Two Newport men face charges stemming from an incident in the Cocke County jail on August 15. Glenn A. Mantooth, 27, Prospect Avenue, and Austin Fine, 22,Lower English Creek Road, are indicted on a charge of facilitation to commit arson because they allegedly assisted John Thomas Shehee, 28, Rock Hill Road, to set the fire in the jail.
