Tennesseans are chartitable
Tuesday was GivingTuesday, and the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on charitable giving. Nearly a third of all annual giving takes place in December and the U.S. is ranked second overall in this year’s World Giving Index. To determine the most generous states, WalletHub compared them based on 13 key metrics. The data set ranges from “volunteer rate” to “percentage of income donated” to “percentage of sheltered homeless.” The study found that Tennesseans ranked 4th in the nation in the percentage of income that is donated. It ranks 6th in the percentage of the population involved in collecting and distributing clothes. The volunteer state ranks 13th in the percentage of the population who are involved in collecting and distributing food. It ranks 28th in the number of Feeding America Food Banks, based on population.
