Two charged in arson conspiracy
Two Cocke County men are named on unsealed presentments which charge them with arson and insurance fraud. The presentments were returned last week by a Cocke County Grand Jury. Tyrone Fine, 55, Epley Road, Newport and Kenneth Russell Edenfield, 45, Country View Way, Newport were arrested by Cocke County Detective Bryan Murr and Agent Tommy Morelock of the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Division. On December 21, 2015, a home on Epley Road, owned by Edenfield, was destroyed by fire. Cocke County Deputy Sgt Max Laughter said there was a "For Rent" sign at the home when it burned. Edenfield said the previous tenants had just moved out and he had put dead bolts on the door. But the officer said there were no deadbolts on the structure and when firefighters arrived the rear door was standing open. The destroyed home was valued at $30,000, and was insured by Farmers Insurance. Now both Fine and Edenfield are charged with arson, conspiracy to commit arson, insurance fraud over $10,000, and criminal conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
